Happenings of Last Week

Whew!  Finally getting a chance to sit down and blog. Just when I think I'm going to get a few minutes to sit down at the computer, something comes up!  The baby needs to eat, (I haven't yet become proficient in typing while breastfeeding) someone needs their bottom wiped, food needs to be prepared, dishes need to be done or children need attention.  Here's to hoping the baby stays asleep a little bit longer so I can finish this post.

So, another week has just flown by.  Can't believe it's already August.  I was just thinking the other day how short this summer has been but I think it's because our June was so jam packed with busy-ness.  Thankfully we still have plenty of summer weather left here in Florida so we can keep up the outdoor water play.

Last Sunday we enjoyed a wonderful afternoon at the beach as I'd hoped.  We saw many dolphins and the children had a grand time swimming and digging for crabs in the sand.  Xavier was great and even slept so I was able to enjoy the water too.  It was such a great way to start the week.

I've been plugging away at my Whole 30 and working out every day (more on that tomorrow) and the boys did their phonics and math every morning.  Wednesday morning an amazing thing happened!  It was a cool *71* degrees out.  That is very unusual for a Florida July morning but it was awesome!  We opened all the windows and sent the children out front with their bikes.  Of course now we're back to the mugginess but it was a little something to look forward to in the months ahead.

I ordered our curriculum for the upcoming school year on Wednesday.  We are going to try out Catholic Heritage Curriculum (CCH) this year.  Last year we tried Seton.  I just want to figure out what is going to work best for us and thankfully the boys are still young enough where it won't affect them to be switching up the curriculum.  Elias will be in 2nd grade, Aidan in 1st and Kieran in preschool.  Juliette who will be turning 3 in September will want to do school too so I'll need to find something to keep her busy.  I've also been thinking about ordering Classically Catholic Memory (CCM) to do this school year but I'm waiting until our CCH materials arrive to see if it'll be too much.  I haven't yet picked a start date but most likely sometime mid August.

Our birthday season is upon us starting with Elias's birthday at the end of this month.  Then we have Juliette in September, Aidan in October, Connor in November, me in December, and Kieran in January!  Whew!  We are going to be par-taying it up in the Dilanji house along with all the other holidays and feast days mixed in.  So fun!

Yesterday all the boys got haircuts thanks to hubby.  This is the first time we've buzzed Connor's hair and I think he looks cute.  Although I'm not a huge fan of the buzz for my boys, I do agree it's so much easier than having to do hair cuts once a month.

I started back up with my little church music job today.  It was great to be back and Xavier behaved very well.  Actually all the children did.  Alleluia!  :)  Thankfully some of the ladies helped Gabe out with all the children because six children six and under is quite a handful for one guy.  I do believe my husband is superman but I just didn't want to put all that stress on him if it wasn't necessary.  ;)

My pretty girl ready for Mass this morning

Well, here's to a new week and all that it may hold!
