Feast day celebrations and other things

This month we celebrated two of the kid's feast days.  Juliette's was first, on July 19th and I made a peach crisp for dessert.  Blessed Juliette was a Carmelite who was martyred in France in 1794.  It is rumored that she and the 15 other women who were killed with her went to their death singing Veni Creator or Salve Regina.  Gabe thinks maybe that is why Juliette enjoys singing and music so much.  :)   There has actually been an opera written about these nuns entitled Dialouge of the Carmelites which funnily enough my sister Catherine was a part of last year.  She played the harp in the orchestra at Portland State University.  Click on the following link to see my sister being interviewed.  Interview for PSU opera.

We celebrated the feast day of St. Elias, (Elijah) the great prophet from the old testament.  I made a mint ice cream cake for Elias and we prayed the luminous mysteries of the rosary.  Elias loves reading all the different stories in the old testament about Elijah.  This are just the first of many upcoming celebrations.  The fall tends to be a big celebrating season for us with all the birthdays, feast days and baptismal days.

Switching gears here - We recently moved Juliette into the toddler bed in the guest room so Connor could have the crib.  She was doing OK sleeping in it the first week but then started screaming when we would put her in bed.  Last week we purchased her a little bed set and pretty new rug for her room and she loves it.  Now when she goes in to bed she pats her bed and says "pretty, pretty."  Who knew that just having a pretty bedroom could be so enticing to a little girl.  :)   We also put a little table in her room for books and dolls.

So we moved Connor's crib into the boys room so the boys are all in a room together.  I ordered Connor a cute new crib bumper to match the boys room.  I got it off amazon and am so pleased with it!  Here is a picture.

I will try to post tomorrow since I missed the first day of the 7 day blogging link up at Conversion Diary.
