Beginning of summer recap Part 3

The second week of June we were busy with VBS at St. Madeline's in High Springs.  Just to give you an idea, we live about 30 minutes drive away from the church.  The first day we had to be there by 8AM to set up and the rest of the week 8:15 each day to be there in time for 8:30 Mass.  We were exhausted by the end of the week to say the least!  We used the Cat Chat program A Radical Ride on the Wings of Prayer With Amazing Angels and Super Saints.  It was awesome!  I was the station leader in the craft room which was super fun.  Here are some pictures from our week.

Since VBS we've been sick!  That was THREE weeks ago!  Here's how it all went down....

Friday we got home from the last day of VBS and crashed!  I thought I was getting sick with a cold.  Saturday I was so sick in bed with fever and chills and achy all over.  I finally went to the doctor a week after being sick with no signs of getting better to get some antibiotics.  (I NEVER go to the doctor or get antibiotics so this tells you how terrible I felt.) Connor was very sick as well poor baby.  Then the rest of kids started getting sick but they had a milder version of what I had...just coughs and runny noses.  When Gabe came down sick and we were both in bed, I called my mother-in-law to come help.  She was wonderful and rushed over from CA (risking infection) arriving the next day to help us out.  All seven of us have had doctor visits and antibiotics and we are pretty much recovered.  Except for Gabe.  He finally went to the doctor yesterday because he just couldn't shake this thing.  He stayed home from work yesterday because he was feeling so terrible.  I hope he will be better soon.  It will be wonderful to all be healthy again.  It's been so great having my mother-in-law here to help and take half the work load off my shoulders.  She will be here for another week and a half.  She did start getting the cough the kids had but was able to get antibiotics before getting too bad.

Anyhow, I can't believe it's already JULY!  It's been raining non-stop since yesterday and tomorrow is supposed to be the big fourth of July fanfare at UF with fireworks and music.  Hopefully it won't be canceled.  On the fourth we may go over to a friend's house for a BBQ and swimming if the weather is good.

It has been so hard being house-bound these past three weeks but I have taken advantage of the situation and started potty training Juliette.  She will go on the potty but she needs to get better at telling us she needs to go.  Hopefully it won't be much longer until I only have 1 in diapers.

In August I am planning a road trip to Texas to visit my family.  So we have that to look forward to and until then I hope to accomplish some organizing around the house.

Well, now you are caught up with our summer!  Happy July!
