Funnies & Going-on's in the Dilanji House

Well, hello!

It's been too long since I last blogged but I just haven't been spending too much time on the computer which I guess is a good thing, right?  I started reading again which has been great!  The first book I read and couldn't put down was The Appaling Strangness of the Mercy of God and then I just read The Pioneer woman: black heels to tractor wheels -- a love story.

We had a wonderful and blessed Easter.  It was so much fun to meet my nephew Michael.  He was too cute!  It was also awesome to be there for his baptism during the Easter Mass.  I will post pictures soon.  We had a short whirlwind trip and I am still recovering!

Since Easter we just been sticking close to home.  I've just been doing school with the boys and trying to keep up with the daily chores.  Gabe has been such a great help to me around the house and with the boys and I'm so so thankful.

So, 12 weeks and counting with baby #5!  I'm still in the tired and exhausted phase of this pregnancy.  I also get so hungry and I don't know what sounds good so then I don't end up eating anything.  Not good I know but that's how I've been with all my pregnancies.  I set my first midwife appointment for next Tuesday so hopefully we'll be able to hear the heartbeat and I'll get a better idea of exactly how far along I am.  God has been so good to me and I have not had any morning sickness what-so-ever.  Just a very slight nauseous feeling every so often, but very very minimal.  We already are working on our baby names.  Gianna Rose for a girl (definitely) and maybe Xavier Donald for a boy.  We are still trying to come up with a few more boy names to work with.  After this baby we'll be maxed out for awhile until we get a bigger vehicle.  :)

Today we had homeschool group day and the boys did a craft and learned about the symbols of the early Christian church.  I also got to do some violin playing with one of the young girls there which was great.  I think it's been about a year since I last pulled out my violin.  We are going to work on some Marian hymns to play for the May crowning next month.  I am hoping to start teaching Elias violin this summer.

I've been doing lots of research lately on various Catholic homeschool curriculums.  I'm trying to decide what I would like to do with Elias for kindergarten next year.  I know he's only going to be in kindergarten, but if possible I would like to stick with the same curriculum until high school.

Funnies:

During school this week we are studying space.  I taught the boys about the planets and their names.  When Gabe came home from work I asked him to have the boys name a planet for him.  Aidan said "celery!"  (He meant Saturn.)

We also have some caterpillars which arrived in the mail a few days ago.  The butterfly house was gifted to Elias for his birthday last August and we've been waiting for spring to order the caterpillars.  We have four cocoons and one about to start spinning his silk.  Aidan excitedly told Daddy, "look at the raccoons!"

I may have mentioned this before, but sometimes I'll sneak myself a little treat from the pantry.  It's hard not to let any of the children notice.  Kieran sees me chewing and asks what I'm having and I tell him "it's a secret."  Then he says, "I want a secret!"

Well, I best get ready to go.  I'm off with a few girlfriends tonight to see October baby!
