7 quick takes (almost friday)

I am pondering these rules given by Mother Teresa to her nuns to help them practice the virtue of humility.
  1. Speak as little as possible about yourself
  2. Keep busy with your own affairs and not those of others
  3. Avoid curiosity
  4. Do not interfere in the affairs of others
  5. Accept small irritations with good humor
  6. Do not dwell on the faults of others
  7. Accept censures even if unmerited
  8. Give in to the will of others
  9. Accept insults and injuries
  10. Accept contempt, being forgotten and disregarded
  11. Accept insults and injuries
  12. Be courteous and delicate even when being provoked by someone
  13. Do not seek to be admired or loved
  14. Do not protect yourself behind your own dignity
  15. Give in, in discussions even when you are right
  16. Choose always the more difficult task

I have had a wonderful little visit down south visiting my sister.  Tomorrow is our last day here.  We are planning on heading to Sanibel Island to the beach in the morning, having lunch and then back to get cleaned up and head to a pumpkin patch with the boys.  I will probably be getting home tomorrow around midnight.  I think the later I leave, the easier the drive will be because the boys will be sleeping.

Kieran has started taking steps!  However, he will only take one at a time but I think he is getting more brave in the walking department.  I'm sure he'll start walking very soon probably by the time he turns 10 months!  I'll be glad when he does because it will be much easier for him to keep up with his brothers and play outside.

I have missed my hubby very much this week and am excited to see him tomorrow night.  The boys will also be very excited to see their daddy and I'm glad we'll have the weekend together.  Elias has soccer Sat. morning (his last game) and we will probably do stuff around the house and errands.

I have kinda sorta realized a little bit about the hardships of single parenting this week.  It wasn't quite as difficult as having a spouse deployed.  It was probably the type of parenting that a parent does while a spouse is in residency.  And boy is it hard!  It has been a lot of work doing everything for the boys by myself.  Well, almost all by myself.  I have been very thankful for the back-up and support of Melissa and Andrew.  But there is only so much a relative can do.  It's usually just "mommy, mommy, mommy," all the time!  Phew!  I'm excited to get my hubby back!

Kieran has been doing this VERY shrill, HIGH PITCHED scream.  He does it when he's excited, wants attention, happy, has his fingers caught in something....pretty much all the time!  It is so loud it hurts my ears!  I am most worried about him doing it in church.  That's going to get tough!  Hopefully he'll outgrow it soon.  I think Aidan did the same thing but it didn't last long.  Just keeping my fingers crossed....and praying!  :)

Today is Elias's baptismal day!  I tried to tell him a little about what happened on this special day 3 years ago!  I don't know if he understood too well.  He probably does not remember Kieran's baptism.  Anyhow it was nice to spend it with his godparents Melissa & Andrew!
