Yesterday (many thanks to my friend Lorrie for watching the boys) I was able to watch Gabe present/give a talk for his qualifying exam. Usually PHD candidates do this the third year of grad school, but Gabe presented a year early. He did a great job presenting, and after the general audience left the room, he was questioned for an hour by a committee of five before they made the decision to pass him. We are so proud of him! Now Gabe is on the final path to getting his PHD! Three more years of grad school and then he will present his thesis and defense. Afterwards, we went out to lunch to celebrate.
This morning we got up early and went to the farmers market for the boys favorite little cucumbers.
Then we went to get bagels, shopped at Sam's club and went to Lowe's for the build and grow program where the boys built some binoculars.
On the way home we stopped to redeem our free Starbucks drink so Gabe made sure we got the most expensive and biggest drink possible. A caramel, mocha frappuccino. It was yummy!
Afterwards we went swimming, had lunch, showers and naps and relaxed around home the rest of the day.
